Today, Fair Trade USA announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. Tracey Turner and Rashmi Kumar join the Board at a pivotal moment for the organization as it continues to expand its impact for farmers, workers, and their communities around the world.  

 

Welcoming New Board Members 

Tracey Turner  

Tracey Turner is a renowned entrepreneur and business leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing social enterprise, impact investing, and international development. She currently serves as Co-Founder and Chair of Stahili, which expands ecommerce opportunities across the African mass market, and serves on numerous boards focused on social impact and inclusive growth. 

Throughout her career, Tracey has founded and led innovative mission-driven businesses, including Copia, an ecommerce platform serving lower-income consumers in East Africa, and MicroPlace, a social investment platform acquired by eBay. Her earlier work with organizations including Grameen Bank, Calvert Ventures, KickStart International, and the World Bank helped establish her expertise in economic development and market-based solutions to poverty. Tracey is also a mom of three, and a dedicated marathon and iron-man athlete.  

Tracey’s experience building purpose-driven businesses and expanding economic opportunity will help advance Fair Trade USA’s mission and global impact. 

Rashmi Kumar 

Rashmi is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Medtronic, where she is responsible for AI driven digital business transformation across the company. She has over 30 years of experience in digital transformation, AI/ML, data and analytics, strategic planning, large-scale business process transformations, and operations.  

She previously led the global IT team at Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) as Senior Vice President and CIO, overseeing large scale digital transformation programs. Rashmi has also served as CIO and CTO for Fortune 50 companies including McKesson, Southern California Edison, Toyota, HPE, and Tata Steel. She is on the Board of Directors for Myriad Genetics.   

Rashmi holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from BIT Sindri in India and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine. 

As Fair Trade USA continues to scale its impact, Rashmi’s experience leading complex organizations and navigating an increasingly technology-driven landscape will help strengthen the organization’s future growth and resilience.
